Question
How strong are Scent Ports -> Vanilla Coconut?
How strong are Scent Ports -> Vanilla Coconut?

I'm looking for a STRONG scented product. I've tried dozens of things, from generic room sprays to reed diffusers to candles. The scents don't fill the room or smell strong enough for me. I've tried half a dozen brands of oil warmers and plug-ins. Not strong enough-- some of them smell great right next to the plug, but I can't smell it 3 feet away.

I've tried the BBW room sprays in orange, strawberry, and vanilla. It says 2 sprays fill a room up to 4 hours. I spray at least 8 sprays, and don't notice the scent half an hour later. I really like strong scents-- faint scents do nothing for me.

What's weird is.. I can smell the BBW room sprays and generic reed diffusers nicely at my parents house. But, in mine, I smell nothing. I've got 3 reed diffusers, 2 plug-ins, and a few candles in my living room (all the same fragrance, not BBW). Still hardly smell it when I walk in the door. My house doesn't smell *bad*, but doesn't smell... *good* either. I would leave the windows open, but can't-- they're old and won't stay open.

Would Scent Ports -> Vanilla Cocunut be strong enough for a person who likes strong fragrance like me? What can I do? I want a nice, pleasant fragrance that I can smell a long time.

I use the Vanilla Coconut Scentports and I find them to be among the stronger scents I've used.

I agree with others in that our noses do become accustomed to scents and stop sensing them.

I would really like to see the Scentports come out in a dual-chambered model with two scents that compliment each other that alternate ever so often. I've used a store brand like that and I think it makes a big difference. The constant switching back and forth keeps your nose stimulated. So I'd love to see a similar product design come out in a high quality product like the Scentport with there being so many great fragrances (Hint Hint BBW - here's a product idea for you!).

Otherwise, I find reed diffusers to be rather weak. We have fairly large rooms in our house and I like strong fragrances so it does take a minimum of 4 to 5 sprays of BBW concentrated room fragrance just to get a couple of hours of scent. Most of my rooms have at least 3 Scentports in them or in our largest bathroom we have 3 Wallflowers. So I'm with ya' on liking strong scents! If Scentports had a high/low switch, I'd think they were all set on low and would turn them all up on high.

you may have just become accustomed to the smell after a few hours or day or whatever our noses get used to the smell so try switching it up or mixing some fragrances. the scent port plug ins are stronger and tend to be better for larger rooms so that may be your best option but as harry slatkin says "layer fragrances" so use the wallflowers or scentports for your "background" music then light some candles or for more potent frag use an oil warmer (which you might wanna go with the glass top one) then for a quick burst of fragrance use the room spray and you can also try a reed diffuser for extra "background music"

I have the same problem...I had a vanilla coconut wallflower that was VERY strong, so I bought candle, a scentport and more wallflowers in the same scent, but they were not very strong at all.
I went with some advice I got on the customer conversations and moved to the "Fruitier" scents and they are much stronger. Right now I have a pineapple mango scentport and a pineapple orchid wallflower in my living room. You may need more than one unit in a big room.
I also like the scents that smell like baking (cinamonn, nutmeg, etc.), but they are better for a smaller room
I really think it has to do with how much electricity your outlet puts out, too.

OH, I was also impressed with the odor neutralizing sparkling citrus--strong enough for my husband to notice. ANd brown sugar and fig which was really good in the home fragrance oil.

The funny thing is still sometimes I can't smell anything when I walk in the door, but I think it is the people and pets in our homes that stink. We went out of town for four days, so I unplugged all my wallflowers and scentports. When we arrived home, I thought it would reek, but surprisingly it smelled really good because no stinky bodies had bee in there for a few days.

GOOD LUCK!! Your best bet is to shop the sales so you can try several different scents at a reasonable price and figure out which may work for you.

it depends on what kind of scents does she prefer. I would recommend you get the eau du parfum instead of the body spray. For me, I would choose Velvet Tuberose, Night Blooming Jasmine, or Enchanted Orchid.

Bath and Body Works' Signature Collection is actually broken down into 4 categories: freshes, cuddlers, romantics and sexys... if you want to get something sexy, go for Japanese Cherry Blossom, Black Amethyst, Velvet Tuberose, Midnight Pomegranate or Vanilla Noir. If you want to get something romantic, go for NEW Butterfly flower, sweet pea, cherry blossom, blushing cherry blossom, wild honeysuckle or my personal favorite Enchanted Orchid.

There is also a Sensual Category in the Aromatherapy brand with either Jasmine Vanilla or Black Currant Vanilla that would also be appropriate for a wedding gift...they have massage oils, bubble baths, body mists, all sorts of sexy ideas...

Congrats to all! I would recommend Butterfly Flowers if she likes the smell of Mimosa and an orchid smell. I just bought the fragant myself and everyone compliments how pretty and deliteful it smells. Have her test it of course before she buys it. The fragrance lasts for hours! Not overpowering at all.

My daughter will be getting married that same day. Good luck to your cousin!

She should definitely pick out the scent herself-possibly with some input from her future husband. It's easier if she can first determine if she would like to smell flowery, fresh and clean, fruity, exotic? Then go to a BBW store and smell various scents. She could buy trial sizes and try them out before the wedding (because they smell different with each person's body chemistry).

Warm vanilla sugar is nice (vanila is supposed to be calming); I like rainkissed leaves (fresh and clean, smells "spring-like); the new scent Butterly Flower or Cherry Blossom are light floral scents that wouldn't overpower; Midnight Pomegranate is sexy fruity scent I think; Black Amethyst is lighter exotic. Just my suggestions.

Does anyone else have trouble removing the lids from the wallflower refills? I realize the direction is the opposite way, but I don't think I should need plyers to remove the lid.

For some reason, they are very difficult to open. However, I have found that if you use one of those rubber jar openers and press firmly down on the top befor you twist it helps greatly! Now, I usually get it open on the first try!

I received the Starter Kit and a pk. of refills for Christmas this past year. They are extemely hard to open. I tried, my husband tried, we used pliers, and after SEVERAL attempts it finally opened. I don't think we turned it the opposite way, it just opened. Crazy, huh!?

No.

Some brands that sell home fragrance plug-ins have strength switches or dials, but Wallflower and Scentports do not.

You can choose a fainter scent to use in your unit(s). In most homes, moving your diffuser from outlet to outlet will unlikely yield any noticeable difference (based on outlet factors specifically that is). However, airflow varies within a room, depending on vent placement and whether a ceiling fan is present and in use. By changing the location of the Wallflower, you may indeed change the amount of scent that reaches your nose.

The strength of the scent will also depend on the amperage of your outlet. If you have a lower-amp plug in your home, you could move your wall-flower to it and it won't be as strong. Also, like someone else suggested, you can go with a lighter scent- Bartlett Pear or even Warm Vanilla Sugar seem to good, not too overbearing scents.

Nope. As long as the Wallflower is plugged into an outlet, it will be putting out fragrance.

Also, some scents are a bit stronger than others.

Unfortunately not. Some scents are some scents that have a lighter scent like Fresh Linen and some that are a heavier scent like Orange Nectar.

1st - When your scentport is plugged into an outlet, does it get warm?

If it is not warming up after a few minutes, then your electrical outlet was putting out too much of an electraical current for the Scentport and triggered the safety feature inside of it to shut the Scentport off. If it isn't warming up anymore, you may want to take the Started part back to the store for your 100% guarantee, they can exchange it for a new one... That is what I had to do.

If it is still warming up, then maybe you had gotten use to the fragrance already and you may want to unplug it for a while so your nose can get use to not smelling it for a couple of days.

It may be that since you are using the same scent again you might just be use to it.

If it has stopped working take it back to any BBW and they will exchange it for a new one.

Question
Which scents are the strongest for wallflowers or scentport?
I bought a bunch of new scents and a scentport at the recent sales and have not been impressed with any of the scents I chose--also, I did buy vanilla-coconut for my wallflower (which was very strong last time I had that scent) and I can hardly smell it this time. I like to smell what I am paying $$$$ for and I know to do different scents in different rooms, so any hints on which scents smell the strongest?

In Wallflowers, Wild Honeysuckle, Cherry Blossom, Black Raspberry Vanilla - these have been fairly strong so far.

I don't know if the same holds true in Wallflowers, but in Scentports I've had luck with Pineapple Mango and Vanilla Coconut (but like you, my Van. Cocount in WF was sorta weak). Cinnamon & Clove Buds is OK.

Try out the wild honeysuckle. It can really be used in any room and is one of the stronger scents that I have found. Also whenever they come out with new holiday scents most of those seem to be strong. It does also depend on the size of your rooms. If you have a bigger room such as a living room you would probably want 2-3 wall flowers.

I preferre scentports because I have a larger area to fragrance and they give off a stronger fragrance. I really love freash bamboo and pineapple orchid this time of year...nice and clean and tropical! The Sandalwood vanilla is also wonderful and soothing. In my experience I have found that the cinnamon based fragrances seem to be stronger, such as Cinnamon and clove buds and sweet cinnamon pumpkin. I hope this information helps :)

It could be that your wall unit is giving out on you. I only use scentports and you can tell it's not working if it's not hot to the touch at the top. Try to determine if your unit is still working first.

As for scents, I think that the fruity stuff is really strong like pineapple mango or mango mandarin. I've got fresh lemonade in right now and it's been going strong for several weeks. The fresh stuff like dancing waters and fresh linen tend to be a bit weaker.

A filled candle is simply a candle housed in its own container. A jar candle is a filled candle that is housed in a glass jar, for example. Sometimes you will find filled candles at BBW in seasonal items, like inside a pineapple figurine, or inside a ceramic seashell (to match a particular fragrance theme).

I know one has three wicks and the other only has one. They are the same 14.5 ounces for each. Must just depend on you preference of container. I personally like the three wick candles with the silver lid. I have had great luck with them as far as fragrance and the candle completely emptying the container. I really love these candles!

Basically there is no difference. The aromatherapy candles are the "filled" candles and they have the same vegetable wax and offer essential oils for the theraputic effect, and the jar candles have the same vegetable wax and come in the scents that are available in the body care scents. Hope that helps.

Vanilla Noir is not really much different in strength however it is a very different fragrance. I cannot stand warm vanilla sugar either because of its sweetness. It is way too sweet for me. If you are the same, you may enjoy vanilla noir. It is more of a pure vanilla rather than a vanilla cookie.

I know the warm vanilla sugar has more of a sweet scent which is why it is so strong. Vanilla Noir is more of a sophisicated vanilla scent. The Vanilla Noir is in my opinion worth the try. I dont like the vanilla scents very much in my opinion but the Vanilla Noir is very nice.

Not sure. My white citrus and sea island cotton wallflower scents turned yellow on me and I can't smell them any longer. They smelled so great when I first plugged them in (sigh). Also, the bottles are almost empty and they've only been plugged in 2 weeks today. I don't know if I can return them b/c I disposed of the packaging once I opened them up. I'm disappointed.
