there have been some problems with the scentport units recently in the past--they were saying some of them may have a trip in the diffuser which i bought one last june and only used it for 3months and it does not work, you can bring them back everything is 100% gauranteed

I have experienced the same problem. If you feel the unit itself (top rear) & it is not warm, try plugging it into another plug. If it still does not warm up, then there is probably a quality issue with it. As in a previous post, BBW does have a 100% guarantee. Please take the unit back to the store & have it replaced. Without loyal customers returning defective products the company would not know there was an issue.

I find that my Scentports do work...but they will be out of fragrance in like 2-3 weeks. I have returned them & got relacements & the same darn thing happens. They do have a 100 o/o guarantee. Return your plugins & try new ones if this doesn't work change to Wallflowers. This is what I have had to do as I can not afford to replace mine ever 2-3 weeks. My Wallflowers are not as strong as the Scentports but they do have a about 3/4 of the scent I got from the Scentports & last at least 5 weeks.

I have used Scentports and Wallflowers for quite some time now and I think I have experienced every type of "scent disfunction" there could be, lol. Here are some of the things that have worked for me, so maybe something will work for you :)
1. I noticed that after a period of time, the fragrance that diffuses out of the scentport collects at the top and can clog up the opening. To clean this out, I unplug the diffuser and let it cool down. I then take a cotton swab soaked in a little hot water or rubbing alcohol and clean out the top, bottom, and sides of the opening to get all that brown, old oil residue off the unit. (if you use rubbing alcohol, just remember to go over the unit again with a little warm water to remove any left over alcohol). Once it is clean, put the fragrance bulb back into the unit and plug the unit back into the outlet, once the unit is completely dry. Hopefully, this will help.
If that doesn't help you, try changing out the bulbs every couple of days. Sometimes we just become almost "immune" to the scent because we have become accustomed to the fragrance, so mixing the scents frequently can help with that.
Now, if that absolutely does not help either and since you have already tried using different plugs throughout the house, I think your only other option is to bring the units into your local store and exchange them out. Luckily, Bath and Body Works has a 100% guarentee on it's products, so they will help you out in this situation.
I can definately tell you though, that except for the time that I put the unit into an outlet that had too much voltage for the diffuser, the tricks that I mentioned above has definately helped me out.

Question
Good room scent for pet odors?
Can anyone recommend particular scents that you have found mask dog odors in your house? I'm looking for a scent for my bathroom where I have puppy pads that get a lot of use. I use a cinnamon pumpkin scent (not from Bath & Body Works), but it seems too heavy, and is not in season. I am looking for a clean, fresh scent. Thanks!

Oh - same situation im in!! I use the Pineapple Orchid plug ins and room spray all over my house. Its very 'in' season right now and is great all through summer. Its pungent enough to cut through all that dog smell, and sweet too so its very pleasant. Yes, i have a dog farm in my house too and I am very adamant about always having Pineapple Orchid plugged in my outlets. Hope this helps! It works great in my house!

If you are looking for a clean, fresh scent then I definately would recommend the Clean Mist wallflower that is part of their odor neutralizing line. If is very light and prety, but very effective in hiding unpleasant odors. The citrus scent is also very pretty and is one of their odor neutralizing wallflowers.
I also love Dancing Waters, Fresh linen and shore breeze! Although they are not part of their odor neutralizing line, all three are very light, clean and perfect for the spring season and for a bath or bedroom. Dancing Waters is clean with a very light floral undertone to it. Fresh linen is like clothes drying on a line on a spring day, and shore breeze is like smelling an ocean at dawn. As great as they are, none of them are over powering which is great :)

As others have said, this is less due to the fact that the Wallflower isn't working, and more due to the fact that our bodies acclimate ourselves to scent.

Have you ever been to a relative or friend's home and it really, really smells? After five or ten minute, you can't really smell the foulness anymore. Your body gets used to it.

It's the same basic principle with the Wallflowers.

I do the same thing. I think there are a few factors in play here. For one, when you sit in a fragrance filled room for a while, your nose becomes used to it and immune to being able to sense the scent (ever notice someone who POURS on the perfume but doesn't realize it? its because they can't smell it anymore)... I also read on another post stating that quite possibly, the scentports have an overheating shut off sensor. But I don't know for sure. So what I do is, I keep two scentports in each room I have them in. One with one scent, one with a different scent. I unplug them when I'm going to be gone for a while, say at work. But when I get home, I just plug them back in and ROTATE the scent each time. It seems to work really well that way. Plus, not being plugged in while you are gone helps to make them last longer. The issue is one of remembering to perform that little ritual. Maybe someone else has more info than I. Try rotating the scents daily. Good Luck!!

I highly recommend the oil burners. Sure they require supervision, but at least the scent lingers for as long as you're home to smell it. If you're worried about fire safety and/or glass breaking like I was about the traditional warmers, the electric oil armer works just as well and is safer. The aroma filled my one bedroom apartment in about a half hour and the scent remained a few more hours after turning off the warmer.

I have the same problem. I don't think it is the wallflower itself - I think we just get used to the fragrance and it's not as noticable as when it's first plugged in. One thing I found that works is changing the fragrance every couple of weeks instead of waiting for the bulb to get empty. If the bulb you're replacing isn't empty, you can recap it and use it later.

Yes, me too. I have had to make several trips to BBW store to return non working scentport unit for a new ones. they will work for a period of time (less than 3 months) then they just stop? Even though they glady replace them each time I am getting tired of making the repeated trips to the store. I know that BBW is aware they have a issue with these.

The Scentport is an electric heating device consisting of a plug, two insulated wires, a ceramic heating element and a small safety fuse. If your unit does not heat when plugged into a working outlet, then either a wire was broken or (most likely) the fuse was blown due to a voltage surge in your outlet.

While either of these problems could be repaired by the owner, doing so would undoubtedly violate the manufacturer warranty and risk serious injury or fire hazard.

Some of the oils do burn very fast and hot. If they get too hot they do get a burning, smoky effect and don't smell as nice. It can be a real disappointment when you find one that does that. So yeah, you're right it does happen.

The smoking is completely normal. It is one of the ways in which the fragrance is diffused throughout the air.

I wrote a long response detailing why it smoked, but evidently it wasn't good enough to go through the first time (why is beyond me), so I am replying again, much shorter this time.

Long story short: don't worry about it. The smoking is normal and will subside after a few minutes!

Usually when the oil warmer is first lit, the oil begins to warm and smoke. This shouldn't be a problem unless you notice a foul, burning smell. This can mean two things, that you do not have enough oil, or you need to change out the oil if it is left over from another day.

Vanilla Coconut is my absolute favorite!

I still like Sandalwood Vanilla, Vanilla Noir, and Cinnamon Vanilla. But Vanilla Coconut is the one that never lets me down as far as strength whether in home fragrance oil, Scentport, or Wallflower. That is why it gets high marks in my book.

For newborns and very young infants you shouldn't put any synthetic fragrances into the air, especially insense or airasol sprays. Once they're about a year or so, and past the risk of SIDS a Wall Flower or similar would be alright, but you need to make sure that it is not anywhere they can reach it, as everything goes into their mouths and these lovely smelling oils are very toxic if ingested. So, you don't ever want to put pillow mist, fragrance oils or even body care products like eau de toilette or body spray that is meant for adults anywhere a baby could touch or taste them, such as on bedding, on the baby them self or in a drawr to scent baby's clothing. Before the baby is a year old using essential oils only in a lamp ring works very nicely, as they smell wonderful and have both health and emotional benifits. Lamp rings also work well with synthetic oils like the ones that Bath and Body Works carries, and are a good option, once children are 12 months or older, because, unlike reed defusers or plug-ins, light bulbs in light fixtures or lamps are all ready well out of reach in a well-baby-proofed room anyway. There are sprays with no alcohol and no synthetic carrier oils that contain essential oils which can be sprayed on baby bedding, but unfortunately Bath and Body Work's pillow mists are not such sprays. If you are using disposable diapers I would reccomend taking your used up fragrance bulbs and putting them right in the bottom of the pail or in the place where you can put a carbon filter. It really helps. Also you can put a fragrance oil or an essential oil on a cotton ball and pop that in the diaper pail. If you sprayed a pillow mist or a scented room spray from Bath and Body Works directly onto the dirty diapers, right into the pail and could keep from getting any into the air of the room, it would be alright for your baby and might cut down on diaper pail odor. Obviously, burning insense or burning scented candels or lighting oil warmers anywhere a baby could reach it and tip it over or burn them selves is not a good idea, but setting an unlighted scented candel on a high shelf can also do wonders. In terms of scents, for essential oils for 12 months and under I would reccomend orange, as it is sweet and happy, lavinder as it helps soothe and premotes restful sleep, eucoliptus because it helps kill germs in the air naturally and smells clean and fresh and lemon or lime as it nutralizes odors from diapers very nicely, as it is very intense. For Wall Flowers and Scent Ports for babies over a year old I would reccomend creamy nutmeg, creamy caramel, vanilla caramel, sweet cinimon pumpkin and vanilla coconut if your baby seems very active and you want to temper their energy with a little bit of quiet play and warm comfort. I would reccomend mango manderan, kitchen lemon, bartlit pair or fresh citrus if your baby is a bit lethargic and you want to invigorate them with positive happy feelings. For babies who have trouble getting to sleep, something like the lavindar camamile scent might be helpful. There are a lot of pretty, generically clean fresh scents, like fresh bamboo, sea island cotton, dancing watters, etc, but those seem to be more of a hit with adults for their sophistication. Make your baby's room for them, not you, and try to pick a kid friendly scent. I hope this was helpful. I admit up front that I would never use any Bath and Body Works product on my infant. Organic, all-natural products, whose entire ingredient list you can understand are a must for babies, but I love Bath and Body Works scents for my self and my family in their plug-ins, oils and candels. Some people don't think at all about what they put onto and into their body and their baby's body, and some go insane trying to eliminate every possible toxin from their and their baby's environment and will only use body care and cleaning products that they have made from scratch. I'm in the middle, insisting on the purest for my baby, and picking safe, predominintly natural, if not perfectly so, products for my self. As the home fragrance products don't go on your skin, they are not absorbed into your body, and they are a great compermize for people who have decided to go green, but desperately miss the scents of the body products they used to use. I reccomend Wall Flowers and Scent Ports to all of my friends who celebrate their pure organic lotions and soaps, but morn that they will never smell Warm Vanilla Sugar or Mango Manderan ever again.

If you're putting it in a baby's room, I would recommend that you use a Wallflower. Scentports would be way too strong (in my opinion). If you want to create a sweet, gentle ambiance for your child, I would use Bartlett Pear. It's a mixture of ripe pears, green apples and peaches. It's basically a fruit medley that is primarily pear. It's a clean and crisp scent that will cover the odor of a diaper pail.

all in all i like the smell of it and use it about every other night

Funny, but my oil burner doesn't sput water or oil out. I always manage to finish all the liquid by the time the tea light goes out. My ceramic burner splatters hot oil so that's why I'm all for the glass burner. Try adding a cube of ice to lower the temperature of the liquid mix to prevent splattering.

I thought that TOO!

I thought maybe I got some "extra strong" tea lights. I wonder if it is because the glass dish seems deeper than normal. I don't like to use water in my burners becasue it pops and sputters and gets ALL over.

Yes, I noticed that too. But what I'll do is just to put less than 5 drops of oil and fill it up with water instead. The water will heat up and that causes the fragrance oil to infuse the whole room. When you see little liquid left in the dish but still a long way to go in your tealight, just refill with water instead. The idea is not to burn until there's no more liquid left in the dish.
