Question
What is the "safest" choice of scent for a gift?
I'd like to give some BBW gifts to my relatives and friends, but I don't know what scents they like. What scents would be "safe" to give them that they would probably like?

For the "safest" scent, I will have to agree with Warm Vanilla Sugar because it isn't a scent that has a ton of notes in it. :) I do think that not everyone likes the vanilla scent, but I think it is safer than going super floral.

Sweet Pea is a pretty scent, too. It's fruity and floral, but not in an overpowering way. Cherry Blossom would also be along this line, too.

If you can, try to get a gift receipt and they can exchange it. Or, you could get a gift card. If you were wanting them to open up an actual gift, you could get the the travel sizes and throw in a gift card. Or, you can get them a mesh sponge and attach the gift card. :) I know I would love this as I am hard to buy for because I am not into the strong florals and deeper scents.

Someone had mentioned age which is a great point. I think the WVS and SP would be pretty safe for all ages. WVS is comforting while SP is crisp and fun.

I say sweet pea, everyone LOVES it! It's my all-time favorite scent, and someone originally gave it to me as a gift! But sweet pea is a little bit strong, so if they don't like strong scents I'd go with sensual amber. People love it too, and it is a little more toned down on the "strongness" scale then Sweet Pea! I hope this helped! And if you still can't decide just go for a gift card.

I would like to make a correction to all the people who say you can't go wrong with warm vanilla sugar. My mom gets a headache around the smell of vanilla so that would be a horrible gift choice for her. I suggest trying to find out what they wear or give gift cards. It's much safer.

It all depends on the age! The most popular gifting sents are the Jap. Cherry Blossom
and the Brown Sugar Van.
You also can get a one of the small pre-boxed gift sets that have about 6 different kinds in there! Hope that helps!!

FOR SIG. COLLECTION

The safest scent for gift giving is Jap. Cherry Blossom, it is the #1 Frag. in the US. it is a great light scent not too powerful with a powder finish.

Another one is the new Black Amethyst I've found out that maybe 1-5 people out of 100 don't like it.

FOR AROMA

For aroma i would go with the Orange Ginger, it is used in the Marriott hotel and people love it!

The second one i would choose is my favorite the Lavender Chamomile. perfect for relaxing and going to sleep.

Also if they don't like the scent you buy them they can always go to any BBW and Exchange it for the exact scent they do like. with out a receipt

Depending on their age, when I used to work at a BBW store (not affiliated in any way any more - lol) Warm Vanilla Sugar was a surefire hit with the younger generations (think tweens to teens - even I like it sometimes, though not on an everyday basis - I'm 27 now). With the more mature ladies, Moonlight Path seemed to be the winner (think clean, lightly floral notes). I am personally a fan of Japanese Cherry Blossom, but that was not out when I was in the stores - I'm guessing that's best for the 20's to 40's range, since it tends to be a bit "heavier".

But one thing to keep in mind is that (once again drawing on my experience at BBW back in the day) if you get a gift receipt, they can ALWAYS return it if they don't like it and get what they want! And check with BBW on this one - but back when I worked there, they *would* take back products that had been used, no questions asked - so if you give something that doesn't work with someone's skin chemistry, they can get something that does.

In my opinion, it takes the "fear" element out of giving a body product gift :D.

What scent do you recommend for those working in office situations where strong scents are frowned upon?
I love brown sugar & fig, but I am not supposed to wear fragrance at work But I still feel funny not wearing anything at all. I also have nearly no sense of smell so it is hard for me to find a fragrance. Do you have a fragrance that is soft and clean, not overpowering?

I'm also not supposed to wear strong fragrances at work, but I have so many that I love. So I decided that would continue wearing the same fragrances, but only wear a little bit of them so most people can't smell them. For the strong ones, I'll usually just do one spray behind the knee or in the crease of the arm. It's seemed ok so far. If you are too worried about doing that, then the fragrances I would reccomend would be things that are food-scented. Vanilla, rasberry, etc, are a lot less likely to bother people, I think. Brown sugar and fig should be ok.

Maybe you should try Cottom Blossom or Sea Island Cotton. They are very crisp, clean scents that smell nothing like flowers or fruits; just like crisp cotton on a breezy summer day. It's a nice smell but it doesn't scream "PERFUME"!

Clean linen is nice and not too overpowering. Also, you might try limiting the number of products you use (i.e. , only use scented handsoap, nothing else or only put lotion on your hands). Limiting the amount of fragrance you put on is key to 'bending the rules" . Whatever you choose, forget about putting it on right before you leave-- try putting it on as early as you can so it has a chance to soften a bit before you get to work.

I would recommend rice flower and shea in the classics line. It is a lighter scent than some of the others.

Also consider using only the body spash or lotion in any of the scents. Just don't spray or spread too heavily. Each of these has less fragrance than the EDT.

It doesn't leave you covered in glitter, and although it does make the bottle look more appealing, it's more so just a selling point. I use the Vanilla Bean Glittering Shower gel, and can tell you that the "glitter" is just for effect in the bottle. I don't even notice the shimmer on my skin while I'm using it, much less afterwards. BBW would have been better off putting the shimmer in the lotion.

I use the glittering shower gel and for the most part, it does wash off in the shower. I only notice the glitter on my skin if I am trying to look for it. If you do want glitter in that scent however, they do make an on-the-go shimmer roll on stick that will leave you with the fragrance and the glitter.

PINK is the best for a 14 year old. So many girls love it because of the youthful packaging and the scents. I notice that the younger crowd likes the fruity and bright the most. If for some reason that isn't up your alley Sweet Pea, Cucumber Melon, and Warm Vanilla Sugar would probably be your best bets.

For a young teen scents that are light, fresh and/or fruity might be good. Take a look at the Pink line of products. The packaging is fun and appealing to young women and the scents are fruity. For the holidays, Twisted Peppermint or Vanilla Bean Noel are also good choices. In the Signature line: Sweet Pea, Mango Mandarin, Black Raspberry Vanilla, Sea Island Cotton, Cherry Blossom and Warm Vanilla Sugar are nice choices.

I recieved CM as a gift for the Christmas of 07, and it did smell different- it wasnt as sweet and 'playful' smelling as i remembered it. But then again, i might be remembering it wrong- CM was the first of its kind for me when it first came out and that was the mega scent of all scents to have as a highschool girl. Now that im older, it doesnt smell the same.

Your body chemistry has a lot to do with the way a scent will smell on you... for example, Cucumber Melon could smell sweet and fresh on you, and it could hardly have a scent on someone else's skin. Your body chemistry can change over time, so it could be just your bodies reaction/change to the scent... Maybe it's time to find a new one!

The first time I used CM was in 2001 and it was MUCH sweeter than it is now. The odor is more pungent than it used to be.

I haven't noticed sweet pea, but have noticed that plumeria is different now than when it was a member of the regular line-up. Same goes for pearberry, but not to the same extent as plumeria.

I've been buying sweet pea for years, and I haven't noticed this. They say that scents smell differently on different people due to their body chemistry, so perhaps your chemistry has evolved slightly over the years. I think the body sprays do smell a bit differently than the spray cologne does. It's the alcohol.

I've had success with a few different shampoos to add some much-needed body. I first and foremost would recommend the Fekkai Full Volume line (it's the yellow bottle). As far as taking away natural waves, there is another Fekkai styling line, called Straight Away, that has some styling products that will help take away those natural waves. Sometimes you will have to mix and match shampoos and product to get the desired effect.
If the Fekkai line is a bit pricy for you, I would also definitely recommend the Aromatherapy volumizing shampoo and conditioner. They are much more affordable, smell better, and do a surprisingly good job at giving limp hair a lift.

I would say that there is a difference not only in feel but in the fragrance of body butters and creams. For example I own the body cream and body butter in a certain fragrance, while the body cream moisturizes very well, the fragrance is also very true to that of it's fragrance family. The body butter in the same fragrace however I found to be greasy and smelled VERY different then the body cream, the smell of the body butter when I first put it on I actually wanted to wash it off it smelled so bad. Now this is the only butter that I have tried but from that experience alone I only buy the body cream.

body butters, in my opinion, don't have as much fragrance and leave a greasy feeling on my skin because of the shea butter. it's not a bad product and feels nice on my legs after shaving or inbetween my fingers, you smell more shea butter than anything else which kind of over takes the fragrance.
body cream is my favorite bath and body works product, so i recommend that to everyone. it's thick but not TOO thick. it has great moisturizers and i love it.

i believe it has to do more with texture and moisture. butter is going to be more thicker and moistururizing. its good for people with drier skin. creams are not as thick but creamier and is still going to moisture your skin. it just depends on if you like the texture/ feel of the lotion and/or if you are treating drier skin.

No. They are not the same thing. There is a hierarchy of thickness (and as such, moisturizing) in the Signature Collection line. The Body Lotions are the thinnest consistency. I consider them the jack of all trades. They are good for all of your body, and won't leave a greasy residue.
The Body Creams, however, are the in between. They are thicker than the Body Lotion, but thinner than the Body Butters. They have a tendency to leave my hands feeling slightly greasy, but they are fantastic for those with dry-prone skin, or for winter usage.
The Body Butters, however, are the top of the line. They are the thickest, and are the only lotion in the Signature Collection that contains Shea Butter: neither the Body Lotion or Body Cream has it. It is VERY thick and is the best option for your extra dry spots, such as elbows and feet. Hope this helps!

Body Butter is going to be thicker and more moisturizing than a body cream. I know that Bath and Body Works body cream is avocado oil based while their body butter is Shea butter based. Shea is a nut. It carries more nutrients in it, and when it is created into a cream is thicker; whereas the body cream only has the oil of an avocado less nutrients and not as thick. Hope that helps. :)

Creams have avocado oil in them to hydrate and papaya and pineapple enzymes to smooth out rough patches. I like the way they work, but the butters.... the butters are amazing. They are similar in texture to the cream, but the butters truly heal dry skin. They have shea butter, jojoba butter, olive oil, oat extracts, aloe, vitamin E and B5, glycerin, etc. The ingredients hydrate deeply and keep my skin moisturized all day. Use them all over, or spot-treat hands, feet, etc. If you have dry skin, skip the cream and try the butter, you won't be disappointed!

No. They are both think, but a body butter is much thicker than a body cream. In order the body butter is the thickest (literally a butter consistancy), then the body cream is not as thick but still think enough to penetrate good, and then body lotion is the thinnest with the highest concentration of water in it. I don't like the lotions because after a few hours I feel like I have to put more on. I love the body cream for everyday use. If you want the best softening for your skin, slather your body in body butter at night before you go to bed, and you will wake up with super soft skin. I read that in one of my bridal magazines, and it's been working for me.

Body Creams and Body Butters help with dry skin. So do many of the products in the True Blue Spa. The best way to do any of them is to layer just like you do your frangrances. 1st cleanse with body wash like creamy body wash/shower gel or I'm in the Mood for Scrub or even the new Cashmere Shower cream. Then use body cream or butter all over right after shower to lock in moisture. If you feel a need to add more moisture throughout day, use the lotion to give a light touch up.

lay it on thick is truly a lotion that will give you continuous moisturizing throughout the day/night. ive never applied a lotion that i actually could feel on my legs 8 hours later! this is a great lotion especially for dry elbows and stretch marks. it does help with dry skin!!!

They certainly do. However, there are several products that I would recommend over others. In the True Blue Spa collection, make sure you check out the Lay it On Thick, Mega Butter, and especially, the 100% Shea Body Balm. The True Blue Spa products will be the least fragrant for those with sensitive skin, and have some of the thickest, best consistency for dry skin of all Bath and Body Works products.
As far as the Signature Collection goes, if you're looking for the most moisture, there is no question about it: the Body Butters (the only ones that have Shea in it in the Signature Collection) is your must have.

I agree. I would always recommend the Lay it On thick by True Blue Spa. It has a great smell..yummy, and doesn't overpower any of the other lotions you want. It's great for men and women. :)
You can always ask the stores for a small sample cup to see how you like it. (Just an FYI) :)

Absolutely! I have very dry skin, so I tend to use Body Cream products. I find the Body Creams to be very moisturizing, but thankfully never sticky or greasy. Try the Twisted Peppermint or Vanilla Bean Noel. Perfect seasonal options!

What he loves on me: Wild Honeysuckle, Enchanted Orchid, Cherry Blossom, Warm Vanilla Sugar, Exotic Coconut (body cream & lotion; I use a coconut body butter from another body products co. b/c BBW doesn't have one for EC), Coconut Vanille

He likes and/or tolerates on me: Sensual Amber (probably my fave), Buttercream Frosting (Jaqua), Mango Mandarin, Raspberry (Sun-Ripened, and one from another vendor), Pure's Honey Almond and the Chocolate Mocha, in lotion, no butter available :(

He doesn't dislike Japanese Cherry Blossom, but agrees with me: there is nothing oh so special about this to explain why it is No. 1. Both of us think it is nice, and have nothing against it. But we like CB better.

I didn't discuss Aromatherapy, since I don't use them except at bedtime.

This is a very good question. I personally have several different fragrances that i wear based on my mood and my husband likes them all. But the ones that he comments on without me saying anything are: midnight pomegranate(which is funny because its my least favorite out of my collection), black raspberry vanilla, and pink grapefruit.

I seemed to get the best response from my boyfriend when I wore the Sheer Japanese Cherry Blossom once on a date. He really liked it and noticed it right away, and he normally doesn't mention those kinds of things. So now I wear it often. He also really seemed to like Black Amethyst, when I wore that one during the winter. He liked the woodsy smell it had.

I don't know. Don't have one. But it depends on a few things. What does he like? Does he have any allergies? If he does, try to keep it soft. Moonlight Path is good or Wild Honeysuckle and Sea Island Cotton? If not, what does he like? You can try pretty much anything.

I love Mango Mandarin, Wild Honeysuckle, Cherry Blossom, and Enchanted Orchid (probably the heaviest scent of the 4 listed, but still very nice for summer especially in the afternoon).

I definently would have to say Cucumber Melon! Irresistible Apple is also good.

One that I haven't tried yet but I think would be good for Summer is, Mango Mandarin.

My favorite spring scent would be the Wild Honeysuckle. But anything in the Romantics category would do great. Plus there's the new Butterfly Flower which is a great spring scent as well!

I think enchanted orchid and cherry blossom are great choices for easter if your mom likes floral scents. Not to mention the festive colors of the products and their packaging. Sweet pea and moonlight path are also great choices if she doesn't care for floral scents.

I tend to pick the ones in the fruit lines for Spring / Summmer gifts. Like Cucumber melon, Mango Mandarin and Black rasberry vanilla. The new scent Optimism from the Aromatherpy line is very nice too.
